The truth is, resolutions fail because they focus on results; "I want to lose 20 pounds", without addressing how to actually get there. Resolutions rely on motivation, but what you really need is a system.

They’re Too Big: Goals like "I’ll completely cut out sugar" feel great at first but are impossible to sustain.

What to Do Instead?

Let go of the pressure to "fix everything" this year. Instead, focus on these three steps:

  • Create a Vision: Picture your healthiest self—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. How does she show up in life? What habits are natural to her? Write this down.

  • Set Micro-Goals: Break your vision into small, achievable steps. Instead of "I’ll lose 20 pounds," try "I’ll drink water before meals" or "I’ll walk for 10 minutes every day." Small wins build momentum.

  • Focus on Systems, Not Willpower: Willpower isn’t reliable. Build habits that support your goals, like meal prepping on Sundays or scheduling workouts like appointments.

The Mindset Shift

Resolutions fail when they feel like punishment. Instead, think of them as a gift to your future self. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about showing up consistently, even when it’s messy.
